The Story Behind The Ashley Solberg Blog And What’s Coming

Best Healthy Life, Mom Life

So there’s this thing called life and it’s pretty fickle. Just when I think I have things figured out, something new comes around the corner. Been there? Good. Glad to know I’m not the only one. The seasons of the last few years have been extra extra surprising, but all things I am extremely thankful for. If you’re reading this, then you’re aware of this new venture I’m on…the Ashley Solberg Mom Blog. I am nothing extravagantly special, so why is the blog just my name? It honestly felt a little funny to pick that, but there wasn’t anything more that can describe me except, well, me. So, without further adieu…welcome to my little slice of mom life in Tampa and all the things in between.

how’d the mom blog side get here?

I became a mom to the most beautiful little human being in August of 2011. The journey to get her in my arms was the first time I remember feeling a true struggle in life. To sum it all up and leave the full story for another day, it was truly a time I lost myself. Infertility. Failures. Sleepless nights. Injections. Countless ultrasounds. Getting pregnant with twins. Losing a precious baby girl. Being strong for the other. Giving birth. Learning to be a mom. Thinking I was over the pain of loss. Walking through grief, sadness, anger. Finding joy in the midst. Learning to be the new me. Ready to try for a baby again. Getting two. Slowly but surely coming back to life.

Remembering what it felt like to be so lost and seeing so many hurting all around me, I wanted to be there for women the best I could. I knew I hadn’t walked through everything life could bring so I asked a few ladies to join me. We launched She Is Blank Space as a place for encouragement through our journeys. Gaining the perspective of fifteen other ladies allowed us to reach women of different ages, backgrounds and phases of life. It was such a beautiful thing and truly ignited my passion. I am truly forever thankful for each lady that was a part whether they wrote one blog post or several along the way. With them along in the journey we reached hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of women. Wow, what a wonderful gift we all were given.

Learning how to do all of this from scratch was a process with a lot of trial and error. With a background in critical care nursing, this was all brand new, but I worked into the wee hours of the morning to learn something new everyday.  We tried new things, but not all things tried worked out and everything just kept coming back to the blog. Everything else required so much effort that caused me to lose focus of what we were here for. At some point I was able to leave my full time job as a nurse and focus on being with my family.

what’s coming

As I settled into my work at home momma title, I realized that the momma part of that was the most important. As hard as the days can be having to balance mom blog work and true interactive play time, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I would try to focus on certain subjects to write about, but found myself coming back to what I was immersed in…momlife. Of course I have to leave a little room for “me time” so there will be some food, fashion, beauty and travel mixed in.

Something new you can expect to see is the process of our family trying to live our best life in all aspects–living in the moment, working towards an eco-friendly home in the foods we eat and things we purchase, trying to get our behinds in shape. This might label me as a tad crunchy, but let me explain a bit.

If you’ve been following us over a longer period of time, my family loves Maui. I literally feel completely at peace there in so many ways. Besides the chill vibe and gorgeous scenery, everyone cares about their health so hugely. They eat whole, fresh foods, many adhere to vegan diets and everyone has at least a few activities they do each day to better themselves. Each time we’ve gone there, it’s rubbed off on me a little bit more and I’ve brought back goals to implement here.

The hubby and I have really come to understand the importance of doing more and more things to better ourselves. The time we get in this life is so limited, so why not live it the best you can right now, no more waiting. We would start to change things about the way we eat, but then look at things like our toothpaste or cleaning chemicals full of yuckies and ask what’s the point if we don’t try to change all of it? This will be a process y’all, especially with kids, but we’ve already seen such a difference in the little changes we’ve made. With all the hard work involved in making this transition, I promise I will still be sharing about some splurges or treats here and there too, don’t panic–hah!

Another thing you may see around here are some family vlogs documenting some of the precious memories made while our kids are younger. I just don’t want to forget any of the sweet chuckles, their little voices and what’s it like to explore with them. Along with that, will be having some local Tampa spots as we live it up.

As with anything, this life is a journey with ever changing puzzle pieces. I couldn’t have imagined this path in the slightest, but I’m so thankful for it. Thank you for being a part of it, thank you for following along and thank you for sticking with us during the transition and what’s ahead for this little mom blog of mine.

Thank you to the lovely and talented Jennifer Wagner for taking our new images and video footage<3
