​I love sweets, They are my weakness. No matter how healthy I eat, I will ALWAYS break for sweets. They are good for the soul. And when it’s a holiday those extra calories don’t count right? I say right. 

Growing up, my favorite sweet has always been  my Aunt Dede’s famous pound cake. I’m not a big fan

of other pound cakes. There is something different about her recipe. It’s moist and sweet on the inside and super crunchy on the outside. I’m the first one to sneakily take off the crunchy pieces. She makes it for every Thanksgiving and Christmas, always something I look forward to. 

Recently I’ve started making them myself.

What dessert is more American than a good ole southern pound cake! 

It’s very simple to make, and with some added fruit and whip cream, it’s a beautiful red, white, and blue dessert! 

Aunt Dede’s Famous Pound Cake 

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 90 minutes

Here’s what you’ll need:

•2 sticks butter         
•1/2 cup Crisco 
•3 cups sugar 
•3 cups all purpose white flour (Lilly brand if possible)
•5 eggs 
•1/2 tsp baking powder 
•2 tsp vanilla
•1 cup milk 

Topping:
•Whip cream
•Strawberries
•Blueberries
•Raspberries

Directions

In a large bowl mix together butter, sugar, and Crisco. Add eggs 1 at a time. In a separate bowl, mix together flour and baking powder. Add to the mixing bowl alternating with milk. Lastly, add the vanilla. Make sure batter is smooth. 




​Add batter to a round bundt pan. Bake at 300 degrees  for 90 mins. 


​Allow cake to completely cool before removing it. Serve with red, white and blue!

    This looks yummy! Pound cake is my favorite cake. I even made a pound cake wedding cake for a friend. Cant wait to try this recipe. This 4th we are keeping it light and having a picnic but there will be a pound cake. 😉
