I am THAT mom…you know, the one who rolls out of bed and heads straight for the coffee maker. And lucky for me (and my family) our coffee maker has a delay button so I can prep the coffee at night and it will start making it whatever time I have it set for the next morning. I set mine for about 10 minutes before my alarm is going to go off so it’s already made when my feet hit the floor. Now that you understand my love for coffee, you will also get why I love coffee mugs. I have a few favorites in the cabinet that are my go-to’s each morning, but I’m always open to adding more to my collection. A few months ago I was watching the Today Show and they did a quick segment on easy DIY projects and this adorable nail polish dipped mug was one of things they demonstrated. I’ve had it on my mind ever since and decided to try it out and show you how you can make one too!

Here’s what you’ll need:

-a solid white mug
-nail polish
-a bowl of warm water (use a plastic container or bowl you can throw away because it will be ruined!)
-toothpicks

How-To:

First, you want to wash your mug with warm, soapy water and dry it completely. Next, put warm water in a disposable bowl or plastic container. The water level should be at least half of the height of your mug.

Once you have the water in your bowl, pour some nail polish into the water. You can use any brand of
polish you have on hand. I used Ulta brand I had already.

Work super quick for this step because the polish will begin to set right away. Use a toothpick to swirl
the polish in the water a little bit then quickly dip your mug in it. I went in at an angle and it worked
perfectly! Going straight down makes the polish mostly stick to the bottom of your mug and that’s not what you want.

Now you just have to let it dry and you’ll be good to go! I set mine on parchment paper so it would come up easily and not stick. Once it’s dry, you can paint it with a coat of dishwasher safe Mod-Podge if you want, but I plan to hand wash mine so I didn’t do that step.

Now you go enjoy that cup of coffee in your beautiful mug! Face and conquer the day, caffeine in hand. Would love to hear how you have your coffee below!

You know you want to pin me!
