Pictures–so magical as they have the ability to stop time. The world continues to whirl around, but click–and you’ve captured a glimmer of a memory.  I have had a love of photography since I was a little girl. I remember going on a trip out of the country and no lie, had eight disposable cameras in tow, and probably all tucked away in a fanny pack none the less. The love for all things photography grew exponentially as I explored the world and wanted to remember the beauty around me.  I don’t know what most people wanted for their high school graduation, but all I wanted was a big honky camera, film at the time, of course.

Fast forward an unmentionable amount of years and several cameras in between. Here I am today with three little babes that are growing like weeds and I wish time could stop. I want to soak in their little hands, their fine baby hair and their sweet smiles as they explore the world. I obviously can’t keep the clock from ticking, but I do know I can capture it. Ninety-nine point nine percent of the day I spend lavishing in the memories and am a part. The other tiny bit, I just stand back and observe from behind the lens.

Now that the kiddos have grown a bit and I am reemerging from double diaper duty, my affinity has grown all the more towards this past time passion.  Along with the routine essentials, doesn’t hurt to add a few accessories to spruce things up a bit. Long gone are the days of the frumpy, run of the mill camera bags.  I’ve teamed up with one of our contributors and beautifully talented photog, Jennifer Wagner,  to share the most amazing camera bags.

Hi! Jennifer Wagner here! As a family, newborn and wedding photographer, there are a few key essentials I need to have to make a photoshoot successful. Of course, planning ahead, having fun with clients and having the perfect lighting is at the top part of my list, but my must have? My lens. My work completely changed when I started using a simple, inexpensive, 50 mm 1.8 lens! It was able to work in low light, and I could get those fancy blur effects I was going for. It especially gives me the freedom to do close-ups and far away shots, all in one. There’s not a zoom option, like in other lenses, but I don’t mind moving around to get the focal distance I want.

Generally I stick to my 50 mm lens for all my photography sessions (other than weddings). But, there are some times when I want to pull out another great lens, such as the Sigma 35 art, to get a different effect. Since I don’t want to be switching lenses over and over again throughout the session, I try to plan accordingly. I will generally shoot everything I want with one lens before switching, and then I’ll stick to that second lens the rest of the session. This makes for less time spent on fooling with the camera, and more time for great photos! Not to mention, it leaves less room for getting the internal part of the lens mount all dirty!

My new fave? This beautiful bag by Lynn at Shutter Totes. I look tip top professional due to it’s high quality and can keep my life’s work safe in it’s padded interior. You can move around the Velcro padding to allow for a transition between lenses and store all your batteries, memory cards and the like in the cute fabric pockets.  Along with this red style($88), there are so many others bags that allow you to hold on to your fashion sense while getting down to business. Messengers, bowlers, slouchies and backpacks sure to compliment your fashion fancies. Their slogan states it perfectly, “Camera protection & style perfection.” Shutter Totes can also be found on Amazon Handmade. ($10 off purchase with code gimme10)

Those bags are GORGEOUS! I love it when a camera bag is stylish and a great accessory instead of just functional!
