Plastic Alternative For Food Storage With Bees Wrap

Best Healthy Life, Food, Mom Life

As one who has always had a deep deep love for everything around me, I certainly wasn’t appreciating it as much as I could. I totally get how I’m about to sound, but once you see things, you just can’t unsee them. In my research of trying to live better as a family, I came across things from the crazy amount of years a diaper lives on at a landfill to the chemicals in the plastics we use. There began my search for plastic alternatives and in came Bee’s Wrap. Sandwiches, produce, cheese and the sort have a tightly sealed cover minus the plastic waste.

why this matters to me

When we embarked on this lifestyle transformation, I didn’t know my goal of eating healthier would overflow on to so many areas of our home. I guess it labels me as “crunchy”, but my goal in all this is to help others see that intentional living should be less of an oddity. These are ways we all can make little changes at a time to better our home (and world) we live in. If we teach our kids now, they will grow up to mindfully take care of themselves and everything around them.

Example A of why change was needed in our home–the crazy number of sandwich baggies we used in one day. It’s (fairly) easy to get your kids to eat an apple over a piece of candy, but ask them to put their snacks in anything other than a baggie and they look at you like you’ve lost your marbles. So, how to get them to change their thinking? Learn from mommy and daddy. I started implementing Bee’s Wrap and little by little, they came around.

Bee’s Wrap is alternative food storage cloth that let’s you save on the use of plastic. It’s made of cotton that is certified by the Global Organic Textiles Standard, then covered with beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin.

why a plastic alternative is needed

Here’s what was happening around our house. Kids ask for an on the go snack like pretzels. We put said snack in a bag. They engulf them in five minutes. Plastic baggie goes in trash. Sits in landfill for up to 1000 years. Woah. Now I know there are ways we can help recycle bags and other plastics, but those methods can be completely avoided if we just start with an alternative to begin with. Bee’s Wrap can be used for an entire year with proper care. You use it as a snack pouch or to cover anything you want to keep after use and then wash with cool water and soap after use.
