Going on vacation is almost like Christmas time. The feeling of anticipation is almost too much to bear as you countdown the days until your flight takes off. I can’t be the only one that L-O-V-E loves to spruce up their wardrobe and accessories repitoire for the location they’re headed. As I was dredging away at the work week and never ending piles of laundry, dreaming about getting my sun-kissed glow, gathering my must haves for Maui was a breeze and almost made me feel like I was already on vacation.

Then, it happened. The alarm clock went off and it was departure day! Even going through airport security was relaxing as I had no agenda, just me and the hubby, sans kids. Yes, you read that right, and I had absolutely no idea what to do with myself! We met up with my sister and her now fiance(as they got engaged on our trip ahhhh!) in LA and left the mainland for the gorgeous island of Maui. I R&R’d so hard and below, are my absolute fave must have finds for this trip that helped me do so.

Beachside Bliss…

My beach experience will never be the same. Growing up in Florida, we know the beach, but you know how the constant battle with sand goes as you fight for every square inch of a never big enough towel. My incredible new found love is called a “roundie” by Rollo Towel Co. Perfectly sized for your tushy to sit or lay upon, even with room for two. It is super light weight, made of 100% cotton, for easy drying and rolls up to perfectly fit in your beach bag. The handstamped styles shown include theLollipop with bright pops of color and the Willow in a black & white Aztec pattern, both $77. Use code #rolloyolo for 10% off your order and all orders over $100 receive free shipping.

Can we talk about the obvious for a minute? You gotta have a cute swim suit! No ifs ands or buts on that one and this coral Sydney Rad Swim suit fit the bill. At $48 for the tankini top and $38 for the boy short style bottoms, it certainly comes in on budget. My favorite detail is the racerback style back that adds to the athletic feel and perfect for catching some waves.

When not in your swim suit…

Although you can walk around in your bathing suit and bare feet all day on the chilled north shore of Maui, there are times where you may want to have a cover up on to show your beachy style. For example, grabbing a quick bite in the town of Paia, hiking the Bamboo Forest off the Hana Highway or preventing TBL, also known as touristy baked lobster syndrome. Our newly launched shop holds these like butter feel floral tanks. Shown here are the Peony and Daisy tank, both available in tees. Use code sheisblankspace10 for 10% off your first purchase.

Flowy, flirty dresses-check! Leg lengthening, no iron needed type of pants-check! Kaiya Designs specializes in small batch creations, so none of that “who wore it best” business going on. Their patterns are vibrant, unique and ever changing in the form of dresses, bottoms, tops and rompers with a price range of $60-95.  Aside from the cuteness factor, I love that they support underpriveleged young women through a bi-yearly scholarship awarded through each purchase made.

What’s in the bag…

When my new Johansen camera bag arrived, I breathed a huge sigh of oh-so-many-pockets-and-padding relief. It appears I suffer from treating my camera like a baby. The cure? The Bellbrook Backpack in Gray, $199. It has a water resistant exterior, seven padded dividers, compartments for your camera base, lenses, memory cards AND your laptop. We like to travel as light as possible as this counted as my purse or backpack carry on and I still was able to bring a regular roll bag for clothes. Their collection consists of backpacks, bowlers, cross body hipsters and traditional purse styled bags ranging from $89-199.

When I needed a standard beach tote to store sunscreen, sunnies, and snacks, I went with our Bloom Where Planted Black & White Stripe Succulent Bag, $26. Weather resistant fabric and printing equaled the perfect match for the beach.

When my body was out of whack due to the time change or nodding off under the trees listening to the waves, my Jord watch kept me on track so I could enjoy every second of our time away. Style shown is the Field Crest Zebrawood and Maple Wood Watch, $139. Read full post here.

Hello arm candy! These beaded bracelets by Found Love Shop matched the chill, vacation vibe as they are super easy to accessorize with and went with everything. Love the detail in the gold beads as it adds class if you want to dress up an outfit for a nice evening out on the town. Use code sheisblankspace for 10% off styles like these.

Makeup bag simplicity…

Picture

Vacation is not the place for a full face, glam makeup look, at least not in Maui anyways. Simplicity is key and no crazy amount of time should be devoted towards application when you are adventuring the day away. My daily routine consisted of five pieces alone: Beachfront Bronzer by Younique/$38, Maybelleine Falsies Mascara/$6.99, Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Powder/$36, Lip Sense Long Lasting Lip Color/$25 and Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick/$46. These all have simple application and long lasting effects to weather the day and transition into dinner ready wear.

Techy time…

Now it’s techy time. When you find yourself on an airplane for around 12 hours getting to Hawaii from the east coast, you need media, lots and lots of media. Movies, music, TV shows-whatever floats your boat. With that, comes a crowded airplane with everyone wanting to listen to their own devices, in private, you’d only hope, I may add.

Thankfully, our his & hers Moxyo Mission Earbuds, $19.99, offered a rich and crisp sound to tune out the world as we flew. Many a times I had to remove my earbuds to see if it was too loud for my neighbor as the sound was so impactful, but not a peep heard to their ears. Additionally, when you have quick layovers or long days out making memories, the last thing you are able to do is plug in your devices for a recharge. The Uptown Powerbank, $24.99, came to the rescue to make sure my phone was charged up and ready to capture lots of vids and pics to share upon our return. The currently are offering free shipping for any orders over $29.95.

Hope all these goodies help you feel ready for your next trip! Would love to hear a story about something you wish you had in your luggage, but forgot, your fave must have or something you look forward to using on your next trip! Happy travels!

Sounds like so much fun! I always travel with a lightweight oversized scarf. It can be used as a blanket on the plane and a sirong at a tropical destination!

Hi Ashley, great post! I am jealous of your travels; wish I was on the beach right now! Your travel item recommendations are excellent; I would add in my foldable/packable Tieks ballet flats. Never travel without them!

My favorite thing of all was the towel! So cute! I definitely went the minimal makeup route on my last beach trip so I feel you on that. I think I wore mascara and lip gloss one day and that was it!
