starting her day with Great Grains® cereal

Food, Fun With Kids
If your morning is anything like mine, it can be summed up in one word–chaos. Having three kids under five, you have to make the most out of every second you have and everything has to be dual purpose. It would be very easy to feed my kids something with an extreme amount of sugar and a whole bunch of unpronoucable ingredients, but I want to start the precidence for the rest of the day to make it a great one. With Great Grains® cereal they get substance and mommy still gets to feel like the morning has been conquered with time to spare.

To tie in the fun factor, I’ve created a new fan favorite in our household called the inside out cereal bowl. I took things out of the box (pun intended), and made the cereal the “bowl” for our yogurt “milk.” Their Cranberry Almond Crunch and Raisin, Dates & Pecan flavors have just the right mix of texture and variety to work perfectly for this recipe. The kids not only had a fun time making them with me, but their imaginations ran wild while I had the satisfaction they were eating something wholesome. Ready to make it with us? gather the goods:

Makes 12 bowls
Prep time: 5 minutes
Bake time: 8 minutes8 cups of Cranberry, Almonds, & Crunch or Raisins, Dates, and Pecans Great Grains® cereal (coupon here)
8 oz of honey
2 cups of vanilla yogurt
1 cup cranberries
1 sprig of mint leaves

Place cereal in a large bowl. We used the entire box of Great Grains® cereal, but you can certainly make a smaller batch if desired. Prep time takes 5 minutes, so this is a super easy recipe you can toss together to add some variety to the morning breakfast regimen.

Picture

Stir in 8 oz of honey until the entire bowl of cereal is coated evenly with a tacky texture. This will ensure your bowls will stay together after baked later on. Plus, you don’t want one little smidge to be without the honey as it complements the cereal components beautifully!

Scoop the mixture and place into your non-stick muffin tin. I used a 1 cup measuring cup and it was the perfect amount. Grab a tablespoon sized spoon and firmly press toward sides to make the bowl shape.

Bake the bowls for about 8 minutes at 375 degrees or until darker golden brown. Let cool to room temperature. I was worried the honey aspect would make it difficult to get the bowls out once ready, but the mixture fully adhered to itself and came out easily.  Can we talk about the bottom of these? Some of the honey concentrated towards the bottom and oh emm gee, heaven!

Add a plop of yogurt, I mean “milk,” to each bowl, then your toppings. For this version, I used cranberries and mint leaves. For the alternate version (below) the kids made, they added their favorite mixed berries to the top.

Voila!

Yummy, right?! Ready to make your own? Snag a coupon here to make your own inside out cereal bowls. We used the Cranberry, Almond, & Crunch, but you can see below, that the Raisin, Date, & Pecan version will be equally as delish!!

Not bad, right?! Turns out their little fingers are perfect for applying the toppings. The even bigger win? They devoured every bite since they got to help.

I am so glad we’ve found something to start our day off right. Whether we take a few more minutes to make a fun recipe like this or go the conventional route and just add milk, they love it, so I love it even more!
